US Vice President Kamala Harris’ achievements inspire all women, says PM Modi



WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has applauded Vice President kamala harris for her achievements, saying that she was an inspiration to women around the world, including India and the United States.
Modi also praised Harris’s mother, saying she kept her relationship with India alive despite living thousands of miles away.
“Madam Vice President, today you have taken this inspiration to new heights. Her achievements are an inspiration not only to women in the United States, but also to women in India and around the world. This is really inspiring,” Modi said in comments from her in a State Department Luncheon organized in his honor by Harris and the US Secretary of State. anthony blink on Friday.
In his remarks, Modi referred to the inspirational journey of the Vice President’s Indian-American mother.
“The mother of Vice President Kamala Harris, Dr Shyamala Gopalan, came to the United States from India in 1958. At that time, most people did not have telephones, so her mother sent handwritten letters to her family back home. And she at no time did she let her relationship with India sever,” she said.
“She kept the relationship alive with whatever shape and medium she could find. He made maximum use of it. For India and her life in America, she kept them both linked. Despite thousands of miles of physical distance, India always remained close to her heart,” Modi said.
Referring to his official visit to the United States, the Prime Minister said that he had participated in various meetings and discussed numerous issues in the past three days.
“In all these meetings, there was one thing that was common. In all these meetings, everyone was of the opinion that the friendship and cooperation between the peoples of India and the United States should be further deepened. The sweet melody of India-US relations is made up of the notes of our people-to-people ties. Examples of these relationships can be seen at every step,” he said.
Modi also praised Blinken for his diplomatic skills.
“The whole world knows your diplomatic skills and now I know it very well. There is also a lot of buzz about your musical talent,” she said.
“Even when you cover thousands of kilometers of travel and face the most serious problems, you always find time for music. This is very inspiring for all of us. Your contribution to strengthening our strategic partnership has been incredible and I thank you,” said the Prime Minister.
Modi said that India and the United States have been on a very long and beautiful journey over the past nine years.
“Friends, during my visit in 2014, my dear friend President Biden was also here with me at the State Department. At the time, he had referred to the India-US partnership as a promise on the horizon. In this nine-year period since then, we have been on a very long and beautiful journey,” he said.
He said the two countries have added and expanded the scope of mutual cooperation in defense and strategic areas.
“We are working with renewed confidence in areas of new and emerging technologies. We are resolving pending and difficult issues in trade. We’re together on frameworks: these new frameworks like Quad and I2U2, and we’ve made a lot of progress on these. Whether on land or in the skies, in the depths of the sea or in space, India and the United States can be seen working together,” he added.
“In fact, in the true sense, the promise on the horizon today is not just a promise but a reality, and it is not very far on the horizon either. Where we are today, the achievements we are proud of are the result of their dreams and tireless hard work,” Modi said.
