A 45-year-old Indian-origin man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to murder for intentionally crashing his car into a vehicle that killed three 16-year-old boys.

One was killed and three were seriously injured.

The other teen was indicted in April on three counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder and a special circumstance charge of multiple murders after the youth played a “doorbell” prank on them in 2020.

A July 14 press release from the district attorney’s office noted that the jury in Riverside County took only three hours to return a guilty verdict against Chandra. Investigation revealed that Chandra had deliberately rammed his car into the vehicle carrying the youth.

The fatal accident occurred on the night of January 19, 2020 on Temescal Canyon Road. The six teenagers were in a 2002 Toyota Prius car, which Chandra forced down the road, resulting in the car crashing into a tree on the east side of the road.

Chandra left the accident spot and returned home without informing about the incident.
